Finnish International Educators' Days in Levi (17.5.2013)
Roughly 300 experts on international affairs will convene in Levi between 20 and 22 May to attend the spring event of international educators in Finnish higher education institutions.

Europe Information of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Finland, published on Thursday 16th May 2013 the book Arctic Calls – Finland, the European Union and the Arctic Region. The book is written by Head of Science Communications Markku Heikkilä and Science Communicator Marjo Laukkanen, both from the Arctic Centre of the University of Lapland in Rovaniemi, Finland.

Students, teachers, and researchers from all over the world gather at the International Summer School in Social Work to discuss social work and social services from a global perspective. The summer school takes place at the University of Lapland from 20 May to 5 June 2013.

Photo competition “My Barents Region” encourages anyone interested in photography to capture your own image of the Barents into pictures. The competition is organized in order to find inspiring cover pictures for Barents Studies: Peoples, Economies and Politics – a new academic journal concentrating on the developments of the Barents Region.
Workshop on human rights research at the Arctic Centre (9.4.2013)
This week, the Arctic Centre is welcoming 20 international guests and 6 keynote speakers for a PhD workshop on the notion of group in human rights research. The workshop is held April 10–12, and it includes a series of public lectures, too.

A conference article by specialist Satu Uusiautti and professor Kaarina Määttä was voted among the three best papers in an education and social sciences conference called "Education Culture and Society – Nowadays Challenges" by the representants of the scientific committee and organisers.
The Norwegian Parliament's delegation visits the Arctic Centre (5.4.2013)
The arctic delegation of the Norwegian Parliament Stortinget will visit Rovaniemi and Helsinki from April 8 to April 10. In Rovaniemi, the delegation gets to know the Arctic Centre at the University of Lapland, as well as to discuss with the mayor Esko Lotvonen about issues related to Barents region economic cooperation.
