Societal Interaction
Societal interaction will be the third function of the University and maintain close links to research, artistic activity, and education.
The University will have a strong and innovative social influence and actively shape the future.
The University will support the equal development of the circumpolar region in accordance with the principles of sustainable development.
The University will anticipate and create new knowledge of the needs for know-how in the Barents region, in Northern Finland and especially in Finnish Lapland.
Social interaction will take place in cooperation with business life, public administration, and the third sector as part of a system of innovation.
The university community will be a crucial source of information for the media locally, regionally and internationally. The University will maintain a science centre and offer a wide range of gallery activities.
