In case you have any general questions concerning the admission requirements and the application process, then please contact admission[at]ulapland.fi.

Accepting the Study Place

Faculties require an affirmation of accepting the study place you have been offered. Accepted applicants will receive instructions and a confirmation form of accepting the study place along with the acceptance letter. Accepted applicants must return the confirmation form and register to the University of Lapland according to the directions and deadlines stated in the acceptance letter.

Read the instructions from the acceptance letter carefully and follow them. If you are uncertain of how you should proceed, then please don’t hesitate to contact admission[at]ulapland.fi or the student services.

One-place-per-student provision in higher education

According to the one-place-per-student provision, a student may not hold another place for a degree programme starting in the same academic year (Universities Act 645/1997, Act Amending Sections 15 and 29 of the Polytechnics Act 1060/1998, Postgraduate Polytechnic Degrees Act 645/2001). This means that you can accept only one study place even if you have been accepted for more than one degree programme or university in Finland.

Higher education degrees are Bachelors’ degrees and Masters’ degrees awarded by universities (multi-faculty universities, specialised universities and art academies) and polytechnic degrees, and also postgraduate polytechnic degrees. The provision does not apply to the National Defence College, the Police College of Finland and the Åland Polytechnic. Neither can the provision be applied to studies completed in foreign higher education institutions.
