General Application Information For Exchange Students
These are general guidelines on how Exchange Students can apply to the University of Lapland through the Erasmus, Nordplus/Nordlys, First, or North2north networks, or through bilateral mobility agreements. If no formal agreement exist with the applicant’s home university, then a student can apply as a so-called "Free mover " student, outside of the existing exchange programmes.
Please be advised of the following dates and requirements:
1. Application Deadlines: The application deadline to study for the full academic year (2010-2011) or for only the autumn semester is May 15, 2010. The application deadline to study during the spring term of 2011 is October 15, 2010.
2. The application form for non-degree exchange studies is the same for all exchange student applicants and "free mover" applicants (the application form can be downloaded on the Files menu).
3. Please complete the application form by carefully answering all items. Have a look at the university Academic Calendar to fill in the proposed period of study.
4. Remember to sign the application form and enclose the required documents before submitting the application.
Learning Agreement
In order to fill in the Learning Agreement part of the application, please visit the International Study Centre’s web-pages for individual course details.
Required Enclosures to the Application
After completing the application form, the following documents must be submitted to the university (documents can be submitted in Finnish, Swedish or English, and all copies must be officially certified!).
Applicants nominated by partner universities (Erasmus, Nordplus/Nordlys, First, North2north, or bilateral agreements) must provide:
- Motivation letter on a separate sheet of paper
- ECTS learning agreement
- Transcript of Academic Records
- The Faculty of Art and Design requires that all applicants enclose also a portfolio to their application. Applications without a portfolio will not be considered.
- Students applying to the Arctic Studies Program (ASP) should consult the ASP Applicants webpage
Free mover applicants must provide:
- A study certificate which states that you are enrolled at an institution of higher education.
- A letter of recommendation from a professor or appropriate authority
- Motivation letter on a separate sheet of paper
- An official Transcript of Academic Records from your university or college registrar’s office
- ECTS learning agreement
