"A friend of mine who had been an exchange-student at the University of Lapland strongly recommended the university to me and I’m glad I took her advice. It was very easy to come here because the university arranged a nice flat for me and my Finnish tutor helped me with everything. I find the tutor-system very useful and it’s something I wish we had in Belgium.

Studying here has been totally different compared to my home-university. Here everything is more practical and we have lots of workshops. The atmosphere is more relaxed and less stressful. I have learned to use machines which I never had chance to use in Belgium. Freedom is one of the best qualities: you don’t have to choose courses you are not interested in. Professors are friendly and always willing to assist you. We have also done interesting excursions. For instance, last weekend we did a camping trip to Kemijärvi.

Rovaniemi is a quite small city, but there are lots of possibilities for different kinds of sports. I really enjoy hiking and running in the nature. The sense of community has been a valuable experience: I’ve learned so much about different cultures and made many friends. In the near future I want to travel and continue my design studies."
