The University of Lapland organises a special orientation programme for incoming international students at the beginning of each semester (in September and in January). It is an informal and fun way for new students to meet and become familiar with the university, its staff, and the town of Rovaniemi.

ORIENTATION DATES FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2012-2013

Autumn semester	from Monday September 3rd until September 7th, 2012
Spring semester	from Monday January 7th until January 11th, 2013 Orientation Programme starting on Tuesday January 8th, 2013 and Monday January 7th being the arrival day.

The Orientation Programme for the Fall 2012 Orientation will be updated in this page by the mid of August 2012.

RECOMMENDED ARRIVAL DATES

It is highly recommended that students arrive at the beginning of each semester in order to participate in the Orientation Programme.

Autumn semester	Sat - Sun September 1st - 2nd, 2012
Spring semester	Mon January 7th, 2013

If you are arriving earlier, you have to arrange the accommodation by yourself. There are several hotels, hostels and b&b accommodation places available. Please see more on www.visitrovaniemi.fi.
