Intercultural Communication Programme ICP (25 ECTS)
The purpose of the Intercultural Communication Programme (ICP) is to introduce the salient themes in the field of intercultural communication and to provide students with the theoretical and practical foundation needed to study intercultural interaction. The programme is organized by the Language Centre
, University of Lapland. The aim of the teaching is to familiarize students with the communicative practices of Finnish and foreign cultures and to explore the impact of these practices on broader social issues. Intercultural communication skills are particularly significant in a world which is becoming increasingly global and international. The programme is designed for Finnish and foreign degree students, exchange students, and special groups. Most of the courses are taught in English; some are given in French, German, Russian or Finnish.
Students and Studies
The Intercultural Communication Programme (ICP) is designed for Finnish and foreign degree students, exchange students, and special groups. The courses are taught in English. The ICP courses are subject-level studies, and it is therefore not recommended that students take them as part of their first-year of studies. The studies can be completed by either taking individual courses or taking part in the whole 25-ECTS credit programme. Students are required to register for courses in advance via WebOodi System. Please note that ICP courses are taught in both autumn and spring semesters. Therefore, it is not possible to complete the programme in one semester.
More information on structure of studies and courses is available in WebOodi
