The JIBS Lapland project examined the use of analogue and digital videos in teaching, studying and learning processes from the viewpoint of meaningful learning. The Centre for Media Pedagogy implemented the research jointly with the Catholic University of Milan
as part of the wider international JIBS Joint Inserts Bank for Schools project.
In the JIBS project European public radio corporations produced an online data bank containing an extensive and culturally diverse selection of easy-to-use video clips applicable to teaching use. The EBU (European Broadcasting Union) co-ordinated the project, which included the following public radio corporations: ARD/SWR (Germany), RAI (Italy), TeleacNOT (Holland), France 5 (France), NHK (Japan) and YLE (Finland). Other project
participants were Scéren/CNDP (Centre National de Documentation Pédagogique, (France) and the British Film Institute (UK). The project was partially funded by the European Commission.
