Submission of Proposals
All accepted abstracts will be included in a Book of Abstracts.
The submission of a full paper is optional. The submitted full papers will be recorded on a CD, which will be included in the congress materials together with the Book of Abstracts. If you want your full paper to be included on the CD, the submission deadline is 30 April 2010. All full papers submitted for the Congress will also be considered for publication in the separate Congress Publication published afterwards.
All papers must be in English and they must be submitted electronically. The online system is open for full paper submissions. The username and password you used for abstract submission are still valid.
The paper sessions will consist of the oral/visual/audiovisual presentation of four papers followed by discussions (15 + 5 min/ paper). The individual papers are grouped into sessions by the Scientific Committee based on the topics.
A symposium is a session (90 min) that provides an opportunity to examine the congress themes in a special way:
- To examine a specific problem or topic from a variety of perspectives, to have intense discussions, or to share experiences on the topic.
- To examine a theme in interaction with and from the viewpoints of art teachers, museum pedagogues, early childhood educators, researchers, or other fields of art education.
The deadline for symposium proposals is 30 November 2009. The proposer is responsible for collecting the presenters and for organizing the format and session schedule. The symposium can be either closed (presenters by invitation from the proposer only) or open for also others to submit their abstract.

- symposium description (max 250 words)
- full contact details of the proposer as well as
- confirmation whether the symposium is closed or open.
The accepted symposium will be added to the online submission system as one topic area. The symposium proposer collects the symposium abstracts as well as the required details on the authors, and handles the abstract submission for the whole symposium or asks the invited symposium speakers to submit their abstract themselves. The extended submission deadline for invited symposium speakers only is 18 February. For open symposia also individual authors can submit their abstract to be presented in the symposium.
A workshop entails the presentation of some method of art education in practice. Please follow the directions for a paper proposal when proposing a workshop and choose ’workshop’ as the topic area of the abstract. Abstract is max 250 words long. The leader of the workshop is responsible for the required equipment and materials. Please include at the end of the abstract the maximum number of workshop participants as well as the equipment and technology needed in the workshop.
Poster exhibition and session
Posters will be on display during the congress in the main lobby of the university. There will be a separate poster session where the poster presenters can give a 5-minute oral presentation on their poster. The poster size is A0 (840 x 1190 mm). Please follow the directions for a paper proposal when proposing a poster and choose ’poster’ as the presentation type.
Submission of Papers
The full papers of the accepted abstracts shall be submitted using the online submission system which will be reopened for this purpose 28 February 2010. Instructions about the paper submission will be added on this page and sent to corresponding authors together with the notification of acceptance.
Detailed instructions for oral and poster presenters will be added on this page as soon as the notifications of acceptance have been sent out by the end of February 2010.
