Healing Wool

1.2.2006 - 31.10.2007

The Finnish Landrace sheep and its wool are an integral part of traditional culture in Finland and Lapland . The wool of the species is highly valued internationally as well for its special properties (softness, luster, crimp, varied coloring). In the Arctic , wool has traditionally been used in a wide variety of ways in clothing and decorative textiles as well as for healing purposes.

The main goal of this EAGGF and ERDF project is to exploit raw wool in product development, designing and production of healing wool products and to study curative properties of wool. Other aims are to figure out productional processes, testing and implementation of the woolen material. Training periods for wool producers are to be organised as well.
