The preparatory phase of the Healing Wool project began in summer 2002. It is an EAGGF project which will run through 31 May 2003.

The Finnish Landrace sheep and its wool are an integral part of traditional culture in Finland and Lapland. The wool of the species is highly valued internationally as well for its special properties (softness, luster, crimp, varied coloring). In the Arctic, wool has traditionally been used in a wide variety of ways in clothing and decorative textiles as well as for healing purposes.

The goal of this EAGGF project is to study the production, use and commercial prospects of Finnish Landrace wool and to use this knowledge to create an operational model and basic network.
