Methods and models for intelligent garment design:
Interdisciplinary approach to accessible and usable wearable products

Proactive Computing Research Program
2003 -2005

The Focus of this project is to improve wearable services and activities to make them as accessible and usable as possible for all. The aim is to develop frameworks that help to initiate R & D projects on new generation garments and environments for ubiquitous computing in the next few years. On the other hand, the aim is to produce applications in area of ubiquitous computing and intelligent garments and create product concepts in the field of wearable intelligence.

As intelligent garments and materials are still rather abstract notion for the average user in many respects, their successful marketing requires that they are presented in a sufficiently concrete and visual form. The project studies the usability and acceptability of wearable intelligence using 3D-simulations and animations. In addition, it creates and studies product concepts in the field of wearable intelligence (intelligent garments) that can be easily adopted for different users and are accessible to as many of us as possible.
