Arctic Art and Design (120 ECTS) Master's Degree Study Structure:

  • Orientation Studies 20 cr.
  • Advanced Studies 85 cr.
  • Elective Studies 15 cr.

 

Elective studies give you the opportunity to strengthen your expertise and steer you degree towards a specialization of your choice.



 ORIENTATION STUDIES 20 ECTS 


  • Orientation, Career Planning & Portfolio 3 cr.
  • Introduction to Arctic Cultures 5 cr.
  • Arctic Art, Design and Innovation 5 cr.
  • Scientific Information Retrieval 2 cr.
  • Academic Speech Communication 2 cr.
  • Academic Writing 3 cr.

 
ADVANCED STUDIES 85 ECTS

 

   Courses for both Specializations (70 cr.)

  • Arts Based Research Methods 3 cr.
  • Visual Methodologies 3 cr.
  • Participatory Design and Interactive Prototypes 3 cr.
  • Project Management 5 cr.
  • Arctic Art and Design Project 10 cr.
  • Entrepreneur Studies 3 cr.
  • Literature: Applied Visual Arts & Service Design 3 cr.
  • Master's Thesis and Seminar 40 cr.

 

   Specialization Studies in Applied Visual Arts (15 cr.)

  • Space, Time and Place Workshop 3 cr.
  • Art and Environment Design 2 cr.
  • Socially-engaged Art 2 cr.

 

Choose 8 cr. from the following options:

  • Introduction to Community, Art and Environment Studies 4 cr
  • Fire Sculpture Workshop  2 cr.  
  • Winter Art in Tourism Environment 2 cr.   
  • Winter Art in Community 2 cr.  
  • Environmental Art Workshop  2 cr.  
  • Art in Towns 2 cr.  
  • Optional workshop 2-4 cr. 

 

   Specialization Studies in Service Design (15 cr.)

  • Introduction to Service Design 5 cr.
  • Advanced Industrial Design project / Interaction Design 10 cr.
  • Advanced Industrial Design project / Service Design 10 cr.
