The 14th Biennial ISATT conference in Rovaniemi, Finland, offers an intellectually inspiring meeting in a fascinating context. Focusing on vital present and future issues and challenges of education, the scientific programme is designed to enhance dialogue from diverse perspectives and to offer a platform for generating new visions and insights for the research and practice of teaching at all levels of education.
The venue and the wide range of social programmes offer the ideal setting for you to experience and enjoy the unique beauty of Lapland and its nightless nights, fells and rivers. Rovaniemi, the capital of Lapland , is a dynamic and growing city, and it is the centre for international expertise and culture. As the home of Santa Claus, Rovaniemi captivates thousands of tourists every year, and it is also an attractive destination for many exchange students and teachers. The Arktikum with its exhibition of Sámi culture is unique and worth seeing. The University of Lapland was founded in 1979, and it is the northernmost university within the European Union as well as a centre for Arctic Studies. The University has five faculties: Art and Design, Education, Law, Social Sciences, and Tourism and Business.
ISATT promotes, presents, discusses and disseminates research on teachers and teaching, and it contributes to theory formation in order to gain more insight into these aspects of education, adds to knowledge, and enhances the quality of education through improved teaching and forms of professional development at all levels of education. The scope of topics is wider this year as the meeting of Network-Based Education is integrated with the ISATT conference.
The genuine ISATT spirit combined with the authenticity of the people and culture of Lapland is guaranteed to give participants an unforgettable experience.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I cordially invite you to the conference. May your time here be professionally stimulating and personally satisfying!
