REGISTERING AT THE UNIVERSITY AS A DOCTORAL STUDENT
Having received the right to complete a doctoral degree, the student registers as a doctoral student of the Faculty of Education at the Student Services of the university (visiting address Yliopistonkatu 8). The doctoral student must remain registered as an attending student throughout the studies.
Registered doctoral students have the opportunity to join the student union. For doctoral students the membership is voluntary. Doctoral students are not entitled to have Health Care services, subsidised lunches or discounts on train or long-distance buses. After paying the membership fee they are entitled to have consultation and other services of the Student union and all other benefits of student card like discounts at hostels, museums, concerts etc. For more information see www.lyy.fi

The faculty will consider that you will quit your doctoral studies, if:
- you have not agreed about an interruption in your confirmed study plan
- you have not registered as a doctoral student in two years in a row
- you have not attended doctoral studies and agreed supervision appointments without notification
To return to your postgraduate studies after quitting requires applying again according the current requirements.
