Research in public law

From the traditional viewpoint, public law research focuses on judicial issues related to public administration and the relation between administration and the individual.

At the University of Lapland, the emphasis of public law is on jurisprudence covering social affairs and health care. It examines especially issues related to social affairs and health care organizations, the provision of services, and the legal status of an individual. Concrete research projects in public law include people's right to gain information and their privacy protection when using services and cooperating with authorities. The research interests thus relate mainly to the field of social law. On the other hand, there is also basic research related to general issues of the field.
