Dissertation

My dissertation studies committed hobbyism. Particularly, I am studying sport fishers, the so-called "consumer anglers" thorough ethnographic methods. My research studies the pursuits of the committed leisure participants and the ways in which hobbyist communities are formed and sustained through a set of consumption practices such as fishing contests and on-line communication. I aim to specify and enlighten the different forms of cultural knowledge that can serve the development of the fishing tourism and its product development which will also advance hobbyist’s prosperity.

Key research interests:

Leisure studies, committed hobbyism, recreational specialization, consumer culture, ethnography; visual ethnography and netnography as research methods.
