Accounting focuses on business finance. It can be used to guide a company, to plan its future operations, and to analyze its economic situation.

Its function is to accrue knowledge on the economy and operations of companies and to make calculations for various parties as a basis for decision making. These calculations are needed by company management, financers, accountants, investors, and other interest groups.

Accounting is a suitable minor subject for students of  management, administrative sciences, public law and law, but also for others interested in operations of companies and cash flows. Skills in accounting provide a sound basis for anyone working in public or private sector.

At the University of Lapland, accounting can be studied as basic studies (25cr.) and subject studies (35cr.), amounting to a total of 60 crdits. The courses and their descriptions can be found at WebOodi.
