Business activities are controlled by legal norms that must be known by accountants, tax consultants, persons in business marketing and contracting, and persons working in business management and consultancy. Business law contains the fields of law that are closely related to business activities. These include contract law, corporate law, labour law, market court law, credit and insurance law, and compensation law.
Business law is a good minor subject for students of e.g. accounting, management, marketing, and law. It is a particularly important minor subject for students interested in accounting.
At the University of Lapland, business law can be studied as basic studies (25–27 cr.) and subject studies (33–35 cr.), amounting to a total of 60 credits. The courses and their descriptions can be found at WebOodi. The subject is taught in cooperation with the Faculty of Law.
