  My main 'hobby' is collecting music. I bought my first album (The Beatles' "Let it be") when I was nine years old. By the time I reached university I was able to air shows on the campus radio once or twice weekly without ever having to dip into the station's record collection. I resented being forced into the world of CD's and still play and collect vinyl albums (12", 10" and 7" formats). In addition to collecting, I am a huge fan of live music and have attended countless concerts since I was 12. My favourite genres are folk, psychedelia, rock, pop, blues, and indigenous music, although there is also a fair smattering of electronic, punk, alternative, hip-hop and even (gasp!) country and western in there.
  While I have never played any musical instruments, my sister Alex Forbes is a critically acclaimed singer-songwriter based in New York City. She has released two CD’s and has toured across both North America and Europe in recent years. In addition to music, I like to spend my free time cross-country skiing locally or visiting my far-flung family and friends, which at this point is a nearly cosmopolitan venture!
