Arctic Innovation Camp
The Arctic Innovation Camp during November 17-19, 2016 will gather approximately 60 people from around Europe from a diversity of ages, disciplines, backgrounds and cultures to co-create and support the development of the entrepreneurial and civic spirit in Northern and other parts of Europe. Work is carried out in split groups of 10-15 people, each tackling their pre-set challenge or sub challenge. The three main challenges are:
-
Developing the strategic partnership (Cluster Partnerships) for smart specialisation investments in the territorial basis. Two subgroups will be established with more detailed challenges. More information about the strategic partnership >
- Northernmost Rural communities – nurturing the ‘truffles’ for the entrepreneurial discovery
- Makings of a good Arctic Policy – being an active partner (creating contributions to the Arctic Policy stakeholder meeting to be held 2017).
The Arctic Innovation Camp is the first Arctic Territorial Cooperation Event that is exploring Arctic regions’ challenges and solutions in the sphere of Smart Specialisation Strategy implementation and societal development. The Arctic Innovation Camp will, in addition to the open co-creation, discovery and prototyping, provide a concrete platform for developing cross-cutting ideas and new insights Into Arctic Regional Development.
The camp is using an open and co-creative instrument (ACSI) for addressing the above mentioned pre-selected societal challenges in an open innovation context. The camp process cannot be solely categorised as a conference, seminar or workshop in the traditional sense. It a combination of different working methods consisting of stimulating keynote challenge presentations, group based brainstorming, co-design & co-creation and prototyping exercises that are supported by highly skilled and experienced mentors. These mentors are not there to lead the group through a fixed set programme and rigid methodology, they are facilitating and guiding the group to self-organise and discover and design prototype promising solutions to challenges presented to the groups.
The camp is also concretely combined with an entrepreneurial discovery process through the five ESCP-S3 Bronze Label Arctic Smartness Modern Business Driven Clusters representatives that dealing with the real-world impacts of the camp outputs after the Camp.
