All participants and speakers must register for the conference in advance.

Registration fee includes:

• access to all conference sessions
• conference participation certificate
• bag and book of abstracts
• lunch and coffee/tea during conference days
• transportation (from Lapland Hotel Sky Ounasvaara to University on Tuesday)
• dinner on Tuesday (excl. drinks)
• outdoor activities on Wednesday (cross country skiing, down-hill skiing or snow-shoe walking) (Please note that undertaking these outdoor activities will happen entirely at participant’s own risk. We recommend you to check your insurance)

The fees include the VAT 0%. Please note that all payments must be made in advance and in euros (€).

Please choose your payment type on the online registration form. The options are
- Online bank transfer (Finnish banks)
- Online credit card payment
- Invoice. The invoice will be sent to you separately by the conference office. Please remember to specify invoicing address on the registration form. Invoicing fee 10 € will be added to all invoices.

Cancellation Policy
All cancellations must be made in writing or by email to the conference office. If you do not cancel your participation at all, you will be charged the full fee.

For cancellations received by 6 March 2017 the paid conference fees will be refunded. No refunds will be made for cancellations made after this date. Please note that a processing fee of 50 € will be deducted from all refunds.


The conference organizers have made bulk reservation in Lapland Hotel Sky Ounasvaara. Hotel room rate for seminar participants is 86e /night for a single room and 49e /person / night for a twin room. Breakfast and free wi-fi connection are included in hotel room rates.

Terms of cancellation for hotel bookings
Booking is confirmed with prepayment latest 2 weeks prior to the arrival. Free cancellation deadline is 6 March 2017. Cancellations informed later than 6 March but before 30 March 2017 will occur 30% cancellation fee. If the booking is cancelled after 30 March or is a no show, the hotel will charge the full reservation fee.



The city of Rovaniemi is the vibrant capital of Lapland. Rovaniemi, called the Gate of Lapland, is located at the northern Arctic in the northernmost part of Finland, at the Arctic Circle. With a land area of 8016 km2 it is Finland’s and Europe’s largest town, with a population of over 60,000. This small but modern city offers a unique combination of urban services and the beautiful natural environment of Lapland, and is located at the junction of the Kemijoki and Ounasjoki rivers. It is a university city, the commercial centre for the area and a city of sport and culture. Four different seasons are strongly present in local life and they give a rhythm for living and activities.

How to get there
Rovaniemi is easily reached by air and train. The city is about 800 km north from Helsinki, the capital of Finland. There are frequent international flights to Helsinki, and domestic flights from Helsinki to Rovaniemi. The flight to Rovaniemi takes about one hour, with several flights every day.

The train journey from Helsinki to Rovaniemi takes about 10 hours and is a good alternative if there is time to spare as this offers a good opportunity to see more of Finland.

All major car rentals have an office in Rovaniemi for those who are interested in traveling around the surrounding areas and Lapland by themselves.

How to get from the airport to the hotels

Airport Express – bus from Airport to the city centre and back – drives to all the centre hotels as well as bus station, ca. 15 minutes, price 7 € / person. Airport Express departs from the airport after every flight arrival. Check your hotel reception about the pickup time from your hotel back to the airport. Airport Taxi: Cars available at the airport when flights arrive. Airport Taxi transports in the city area and surroundings. Price 10-12 € / person, takes more than one customer at the same time (car pool). For further information call +358 (0)16 – 362 222.

Normal Taxi: Price from the airport to the city centre ca. 20 € . Phone +358 (0)200 88 000.

The railway station is located about 1.5 kilometres from the city centre. There is no direct bus connection. The easiest way to get to the hotel is to either walk or to take a taxi.
