Programme description
Note! This programme is only offered in Finnish. In the Master's Degree Programme in Applied Visual Arts and Nature Photography students become familiar with different ways of utilising nature photography and applied visual arts. Our studies encompass different fields of applied arts, service design, photography and research. They will introduce students to the principles of sustainable use of natural resources and sustainable tourism, as well as the use of nature as a promoter of well-being.
In the studies, students focus on northern and local culture, project-oriented studying and the improvement of their ability to use photography equipment and tools for applied visual arts. The programme examines nature photography particularly as a multifaceted mode of expression. Our practical and working life oriented education seeks to provide students with expertise that is required when dealing with local tourism, local well-being and sustainable use of natural resources. Moreover, our project studies and connections to the professional world aim to improve students' entrepreneurship skills.
The studies take place in Kuusamo and lead to a Master of Arts Degree. The teaching is provided by our university.
The Master's Degree Programme in Applied Visual Arts and Nature Photography is a two-year programme. It is carried out in collaboration with the Kuusamo College and financed by the European Social Fund (ESF) and North Ostrobothnia ELY Centre. Co-financiers are the City of Kuusamo, Kuusamo College and University of Lapland.
