The basic and subject studies in visual arts are aimed at all students at our university.
Basic studies in visual arts, 25 credits
Basic studies in visual arts (25 credits) are incorporated in the Degree Programme in Art Education. For students in other degree programmes in the Faculty of Art and Design, the studies comprise the following courses:
UTAK0102 Introduction to Visual Composition, 4 cr.
UTAK0112 Introduction to Sculpture, 4 cr.
UTAK0113 Introduction to Photography, 4 cr.
UTAK0115 Colour Theories, 4 cr.
UTAK0116 Drawing, 4 cr.
UTAK0117 Painting, 4 cr.
UYLE0229 Portfolio, 1 cr.
Some of these courses are included in the joint studies of our design subjects. You are required to complete an equal amount of other studies in place of these courses.
Students from other faculties adhere to the requirements of the Open University in their studies.
Subject studies in visual arts, 35 credits
studies in visual arts will deepen your knowledge and skills in
different areas of visual arts, including sculpture, drawing and
painting, photography, and graphic arts. You will also grow more
confident in your independent artistic work. The studies admit fifteen
new students in the spring.
Student selection is made on the basis of the
students' portfolios and interviews. We require completion of the
basic studies in visual arts and the Portfolio course, completed last,
with the minimum grade of 'good'.
It is possible to take individual
visual art courses, if they are not booked full. When enrolling for the
courses, preference is given to those students who aim to complete the
subject study module. It is also possible to take the studies through
the Open University.
