General Information

The conference will be held at Sallatunturi in Salla, Finland (in the middle of nowhere). The scientific programme, dinners as well as accommodation will be arranged at the Sallatunturin Tuvat.

The unique wilderness area, with its diverse natural environment, provides a setting for unforgettable experiences for anyone visiting Salla, an opportunity to experience the touch of the wild in the way they have always dreamed of. The proximity of Russia, which you can witness with your own eyes, lends the region its own mystical and exotic aura. The presence of history can almost be felt when visiting various sites, where some of the fiercest Second World War battles were fought. The theatre of war left numerous scars on the scenery: war materiel, trenches, dugouts and memorials.

In Salla, you can enjoy the experiences offered by wild, unharnessed nature in a safe manner. You can approach nature in exactly the way you want to, under guidance or on your own. You can also feel the excitement of the wilderness around you on day trips and safaris led by highly professional guides. In the Salla Reindeer Park, you can become acquainted with domesticated reindeer and their management. The Sports Centre offers opportunities to practice various indoor sports. If you are seeking wellbeing and relaxation, local spa and massage therapists offer a variety of pampering treatments.

English is the official language of the conference.

How to get there

There are several options to choose from when selecting how to travel to Salla. A train will take you as far as Kemijärvi, from where you can catch a bus to Sallatunturi and back.
