Call for applications open for international master´s degree programmes at the University of Lapland


Application period for international master´s degree programmes at the University of Lapland starts on 1st of December. There are four degree programmes available this application round in the fields of tourism, media education and art and design and they are arranged by three different faculties. Altogether 45 study places are available.

The degree programmes in Arctic Art and Design, Media Education and Tourism, Culture and International Management (TourCIM) were offered also last application period. Master’s Degree Programme in Northern Tourism, hosted by the University of the Arctic (UArctic) Thematic Network on Northern Tourism and focusing on sustainable development, is a new addition to the programmes available. Number of applications between the degree programmes has been quite equal in the previous rounds.

Marcelo De Souza, studying his first year in the Arctic Art and Design -programme, is enjoying academic freedom and different working methods: “Here I have more freedom than in Brazil. There are more options and student can achieve a lot as long as he is committed. The university offers a variety of classes and workshops, and the possibility to attend important conferences in the field.” Dominika Klos is soon graduating from TourCIM-programme. She has appreciated multidisciplinary study options and projects: “We work on various practical projects with different companies, so we already start building our professional network.”

Duration for the international master´s degree programmes is two years and they consist of 120 ECTS. Eligible applicants for the programmes must have at least a bachelor´s degree from the relevant field and a good command of English language for academic purposes. Application period ends on 15th of January 2018. There is a tuition fee to new master’s degree students from outside the EU or EEA countries. The fee is 8 000 € per academic year and equal for all international Master’s degree programmes. Students required to pay tuition fees may apply for a scholarship already in the application phase.
