Changing your password

Changing the password

If you want to change your current password or receive a notification that it is about to expire, you can change it on the page:

Expired password

If your password has expired, go to pwd.luc.fi. The page asks for your username and old password and lets you create a new password.

Do not know your password or username

At identity.luc.fi you can retrieve your username and password with your online banking account or the mobile certificate. Select the University of Lapland as your organisation and follow the instructions. The service is available through Finnish online banks or with the mobile certificate.

Unable to reset your password

If you are unable to reset your password using any of the abovementioned methods, please contact the ICT Services by phone or visit the ServiceDesk.

Guidelines for passwords

Strong password

Your password should be difficult to guess but easy for you to remember. This way you do not have to write it down, minimising the possibility for it falling into wrong hands. For example, a strong password could be a combination of words that has no meaning, but is still easy to remember. Moreover, a good password cannot be deduced from your personal information, such as address, date of birth, hobbies or family members.
