"Some things" exhibition by art education students in Gallery Valo in May

27.4.2012

"Some things" is an exhibition arranged by University's art education students. It is displayed from May 4 to May 27 in the Gallery Valo in Arktikum.

Exhibition is part of an art production course where students have created artwork of a current theme. Because Rovaniemi has been presented this year as a northern design city, the theme of the exhibition is art and design.

Students have looked for a connection between art and design. There are many items around us, some useless but some priceless. Important items have got new forms during the art process. Art pieces are also asking questions if it is possible for design to transform into art.

The exhibition shows art works from Ulla Hautamäki, Anni Hintsala, Tiina Häkkinen, Merja Isomaa-James, Milja Kaukorinne, Henna Korpela, Terhi Kemppi, Minna Lappalainen, Tania-Maria Moilanen, Anna-Mari Nukarinen, Mari Oikarinen, Ilona Ollikkala, Mirka Seppälä, Eeva Terävä, Katri Toivanen, Jatta Vuorinen and Juli Westerlund. The course was lead and taught byt Maria Huhmarniemi, Annamari Manninen and Antti Stöckell.

Welcome to the exhibition opening on May 4, 2012 at 5 pm to Gallery Valo in Arktikum (address: Pohjoisranta 4, Rovaniemi). The Gallery is open from Tuesdays to Sundays from 10 am to 6 pm.
