Nafisa Yeasmin's Annual Celebration week's lecture is about Sustainability, Immigration and Changing Arctic: Northern sustainability is depending very much on balancing demography for underpinning long-term economic accomplishment. As many cities in the north are shrinking by population, we can observe the increasing economic imbalance in society. This is one of the reasons that states in the region are attracting skilled immigrants to the territory to sustain the future goals of the northern society. However, implementation of policies regarding the attraction and retention of immigrants requires efforts on strategic management for reaching out to multiple needs of a diverse group of people likewise well-being, socio-cultural participation, a safe environment of respect and tolerance, etc. so as to make the integration process easier for newcomers in the society. At this phase, a group-specific integration policy to place immigration at the core of sustainable development in the North is a significant factor in achieving the goal of balancing the economy, inclusion, security, and equality in society as a whole. This case study provides us with an understanding of the importance of group-specific integration policy which is interlinked with the concept of northern "sustainability" which requires phasing out the non-sustainable practices that are hindering sustainable development.
