Elena Gladun is Doctor of Law, Professor at the Institute of State and Law, the University of Tyumen. She leads the Research Division “Legal and economic frameworks for sustainable development of the northern territories in Russia”. Prof. Gladun is the leader of Thematic Network “Arctic Law” in the Russian Arctic Consortium and a member of UArctic Thematic Network “Philosophy of Law in the Arctic”. Since 2018, she coordinates Arctic Initiative Center at her home University. For the last 15 years, the focus of her research is the northern indigenous peoples and legal regulations of natural resource use and environmental protection in the Arctic. In 2018-2019 Elena was a scholar of Fulbright Arctic Intiative. Elena Gladun teaches several master degree courses, including “Law and Policy for Sustainable Development of the Russian Arctic”, “Global Environmental Management”, “Legal Regulations of Petroleum Industry in Russia”.
