Project partners
IkäihMe-project is coordinated by the University of Lapland, and the project is implemented in co-operation with the University of Helsinki and a large number of stakeholders, that is, senior citizens and experts working with and for them in non-governmental organizations, public sector, and adult education organizations.
Description
The aim of the project is to develop the teacher education of adult educators in terms of its teaching practice, contents, and methods. During the project, a digital study module focused on older people’s media education is designed, produced, and piloted in a research-based manner. The study module can be freely used by different universities, liberal adult education organizations, adult education, and training organizations. The study module focuses on older people’s media education, digital competences, teaching, and learning.
At the University of Lapland, the study module is integrated into teachers’ pedagogical studies, where the new blended learning course "Older people, media education and facilitation of learning (2 cr)" is produced. At the University of Helsinki the online course “Older people and media education (2 cr)” is being implemented as a part of teacher education of subject teachers in adult education. The universities of Lapland and Helsinki are responsible for the design, piloting, and further development of the study module on a research basis.
