Application documents are programme specific. The admissions requirements are set by each master's programme, meaning the number and type of documents to be submitted vary depending on the programme. Please check the detailed information on the application documents for each programme.

All admitted applicants are required to provide officially certified educational documents (and translations if applicable). You can submit your officially certified educational documents to your application or by mail if required per country-specific requirements by January 29th at 3pm (UTC+2), or after receiving the study offer by May 30th. Admission decision is conditional until the officially certified documents have been received by the University of Lapland. General information on application documents and their attestation you will find here.

When putting together the documents, please also note that there are country-specific document requirements for some degree-awarding countries that need to be followed first and foremost.

If application documents are mailed in by a third party, e.g. your university officials, language test centers, etc. the University of Lapland will match them to your application according to the personal details on those documents. If the documents are submitted separately to the University, they should clearly state the name of the applicant.

Fill in the Application Form and submit it

Applications are filled in and submitted only through the national Studyinfo Portal. The online application form will be available in the Studyinfo.fi -portal only during the application period. Follow the Fill in application –link in Studyinfo.

Make sure you have all the required documents ready before you start your application as you need to upload them to the application:

You cannot pause the electronic application once you have started filling it in. You cannot save a draft of the application form. If you close the form without submitting it, the information you have entered on the form will be lost. After submitting the form you will receive a confirmation e-mail with a personal link through which you can make changes until the end of the application period.

Applicants who are not citizens of the EU/EEA area or Switzerland are liable to pay an application fee. Please read more about the fee on Studyinfo

If you are applying to more than one international master’s degree programme at the University of Lapland in the joint application, please fill in only one form. If you fill in multiple forms, only the newest will be considered, and all forms you have filled in earlier will be deleted. On the form, you are asked to choose the programme(s) you are applying to. With the same form, you can also apply for the scholarship which covers the tuition fee, in case you would be liable to pay the tuition fee

Upload the required enclosures to the online application

Collect the required documents. Information concerning the documents is available on the programme specific admission application requirements, and also on your online application. During the application period University of Lapland accepts copies OR officially certified copies of your educational documents. Please note that officially certified copies of your educational documents must be submitted later in the application process if you are admitted:

  • Applicants, who have not submitted the officially certified educational documents by the application deadline and who receive a study offer need to deliver the officially certified educational documents by May 30, 2025 at 15:00 / 3pm (local Finnish time).
  • Applicants, who graduate after the application period and who receive a conditional admission decision, have to submit officially certified copies of the degree certificate or proof of graduation and the final transcript of records by July 31st, 2025 at 15:00 / 3pm (local Finnish time).

Please scan the original documents with care, always scan in color and remember to scan all pages. If your scan is blurred, discoloured or the file is flawed it will not be accepted. The use of PDF -format is encouraged, as this ensures that the files can be opened in all operating systems.

If you are required to provide the educational documents directly from the awarding institution, please provide the following address to your university:

It is always the applicant’s responsibility to make sure that the application documents meet the requirements and reach the University of Lapland by the deadline. University of Lapland does not process any application documents that have arrived after the deadline. The authenticity of all documents will be examined and the submission of forged documents will lead to automatic rejection of the applicant.

Submit your officially certified documents

Applicants who receive a study offer

Applicants who have not submitted the officially certified educational documents by the application deadline and who receive a study offer need to deliver the officially certified educational documents by May 30, 2025 at 15:00 / 3pm (local Finnish time).

Submit the verified documents to University of Lapland by following the country-specific requirements if applicable, or if there are no country-specific requirements for the country in which you have completed your degree, send the documents by email to admission(at)ulapland.fi. Make sure that the verified documents meet our document requirements before delivering them. If you already delivered them during the application period, you do not need to do that again. In this case you have already received a final decision.

Applicants who receive a Letter of Conditional Admission

Applicants who graduate after the application period and who receive a conditional admission decision, have to submit officially certified copies of the degree certificate or proof of graduation and the final transcript of records by July 31st 2025 at 15:00 / 3pm (local Finnish time). Detailed instructions are available in the Letter of Conditional Admission.

Accept your study place
Admitted students need to confirm their acceptance of the study place offered to them in the Studyinfo portal by July 10th 2025 (3pm local Finnish time). Please note that you can only accept one study place at a higher education institution leading to a university degree starting at the same academic term. This is due to the one study place per term provision of Finnish higher education. Thus it is not possible to accept the study place after the given deadline, nor is it possible to cancel the acceptance after accepting the study place in Studyinfo.
Enroll, pay the tuition fee and register as a student

After accepting your study place, you need to register as an attending student in order to enroll yourself to the University. To register, you need to pay for the Student Union fee (approximately 59,00 euros per academic year) to the Student Union of the University of Lapland. You will be notified of the exact sum in your welcoming letter.

Students who are required to pay the tuition fee are asked to make the tuition fee payment for the first academic year before registering as attending. Further instructions on tuition fees and enrollment will be sent to students by email.
