We are an international, young and vibrant university community – 4,450 students and 680 staff members strong – who have chosen to study and work at the University of Lapland.

Founded in 1979, the university today boasts research and teaching in art and design, education, law, social sciences, as well as Northern and Arctic issues and tourism research. These strengths and the people who drive them have created a hub of academic expertise on the Arctic Circle.
