Equality and Non-Discrimination

One of the goals of our HR strategy is to have a healthy university community. Among the core values guiding our activities are cooperation, non-discrimination, and communality.

These values can only be realised in an atmosphere of mutual respect and appreciation. A sound work community benefits us all, both the personnel and the students.

No-one is to be discriminated against based on age, ethnic or national background, nationality, language, religion, conviction, opinion, state of health, disability, gender identity, or other personal reason. The Act on Equality between Women and Men provides for the prohibition of gender-based discrimination.

Equality and Non-Discrimination Plan 2025–2026

The equality and non-discrimination plan guides us in our equality and non-discrimination activity. It defines our goals, our measures and the parties in charge of them, and the methods through which we follow the realisation of our goals and measures. The plan also outlines our equality and non-discrimination situation.

Tasks

Appointed by the rector, the Equality Committee

promotes the realisation of the objectives of the Act on Equality between Women and Men
promotes measures provided in the Non-discrimination Act
ensures that the university has a valid equality and non-discrimination plan
monitors the realisation of equality and non-discrimination and the relevant plans
promotes the development of procedures supporting equality and non-discrimination at the university
provides information and support to personnel and students regarding issues within its scope of operation
functions as a body dealing with equality issues in accordance with the cooperation agreement.

Inappropriate treatment and harassment

Resolving harassment cases

Harassment erodes concentration, decreases work satisfaction and motivation to study, and may spoil the atmosphere of an entire work community.

Our university has instructions on resolving harassment situations.
