Whistleblower system

University of Lapland has an internal reporting channel in accordance with the Whistleblower Protection Act. Through the whistleblower system, you can confidentially report crimes, violations, abuses or other acts or omissions. You can be a member of staff or a person outside the higher education community as an informant.

The notice may be given in by name or anonymously. An anonymous report may complicate the processing of the report. It is useful to describe the action as precisely as possible in the notification, so that we can find it out.

Save your username and password when you are using the whistleblower system for the first time. With the help of the credentials, you can log in again later and monitor the status of the notification processing. We will send you an acknowledgment of receipt of the notification within 7 days via the whistleblower system. We can also ask you via the whistleblower sytem for additional information on your notification, and you can also send us additional information after submitting the notification. The credentials are deleted three months after the last login.

Notifications must be made in good faith. Making intentional false statements can lead to legal sanctions.

Open whistleblower system.

Processing of personal data

Processing of special categories of personal data is based on the EU's general data protection regulation, the consent of the data subject under Article 9 and laki Euroopan unionin ja kansallisen oikeuden rikkomisesta ilmoittavien henkilöiden suojelusta 30 § [The Finnish national law of the protection of whistleblowers 30 §].

University of Lapland is the data controller. The purpose of the processing of personal data is to enable the use of a Whistleblower system that enables University of Lapland's employee, former employee or other person to report a detected crime, violation, misconduct, other act or omission. The notification and related personal data will be deleted when the notification is no longer relevant to the legal claim. The notification will be removed from the Whistleblower system in 5 years. When the registrant is a notifier, he or she has the right to get access to the data and request correction of his or her data. When the registrant is the subject of the notification, he or she has the right to get access to the information when the processing of the case has ended and if providing the information does not cause harm.
