Interior and Textile Design
The Degree Programme in Interior and Textile Design is the only master's level degree programme in the textile field in Finland; you can study it only at our university.
DFACS organises our art and culture studies, i.e. studies in visual arts, art history and photography.
Arctic Art and Design
The Master's degree in Arctic Art and Design focuses on creative collaborations in the 'real world'. For example, our students may work with social work services, health and wellbeing professionals or the tourist industry. The degree studies include applied visual art, service design, research methods, project planning and Arctic Culture
Applied Sound Expression (only in Finnish)
From the Master's Degree Programme in Applied Sound Expression students graduate to be experts of culture and operational environment who understand and apply sound as a multidisciplinary cultural, aesthetic and ethical phenomenon and medium of expression.
Applied Visual Arts and Nature Photography (only in Finnish)
In the Master's Degree Programme in Applied Visual Arts and Nature Photography students become familiar with different ways of utilising nature photography and applied visual arts. Our studies encompass different fields of applied arts, service design, photography and research.
Free choice of minor
At our university you are free to choose your minor from
- the minor subjects offered by the faculties
- the courses and programmes offered by the Open University and the Summer University
- your studies abroad
- the modules offered at the Language Centre
- JOO studies (Flexible right to study) at the University of Oulu
Note, however, that only some of these studies are offered in English.
Major subject as a minor
Minor studies comprise the basic and subject studies in a subject. This
means that the majors offered in the faculties provide courses from
which students in different majors can put together minors.
Choosing a minor
Choosing a minor plays a significant role for your degree and your future career. When choosing a minor, you should pay attention to the employment opportunities as well as your interests. Be creative when combining minors and select studies that support your goals.
