During
master’s program, it was exciting to be able to part of many different
projects and participate in various workshops and to organize them as
well. It’s very flexible here to study different things outside of your own
line as well. This was important for me sinceI like to combine
different approaches in art and design from different fields. I really
like the variety in courses here.
I consider culture in Finland very
close to mine, so it is easy for me to live here.I really enjoy the
peaceful attitude. Also, I like the fact that there is
always good instructions for everything. If I want to figure something
out, there's probably detailed instructions to the problem. It’s very
nice to find all the answers easily to all my questions. It’s very
useful that Finns like to organize information.
Finding a job was quite
an adventure for me. First, I tried working as a freelancer and I was
doing some design work: illustrations and organizing workshops while I
was studying. Then, I applied for a couple of internships to get to know
the Finnish working culture. It was a very good experience and also
good test and try out for my language skills. Finally, I started to
look for a permanent job in my field, so I could have the full experience
of working in a company. Eventually I found one. It was great to work
there as a designer and part of the team. Now I work here at the
university in “active arctic” project.
When I came to study to
Rovaniemi, I really fell in love with the city because it’s small and
cozy. I think it’s the best that nature is really close but at the same
time there is also art and design events. And the community is very warm
and nice here in Rovaniemi.
