The first joint multidisciplinary summer school by Finnish-Russian cross border university networks will collect approximately a hundred students and researchers at the University of Lapland at the end of August.
The summer school focuses on multidisciplinary dialogue especially from
the standpoints of wellbeing, technology, and environment. The five-day
course offers master and doctoral students, researchers, and professors a
forum to learn how to communicate across the fields of science and how
to examine connections between their own and other disciplines. Through
plenary sessions, keynotes, and students’ presentations the participants
will discuss relevant research methodologies, as well as the ethics of
multidisciplinary research.
The summer school expects around a hundred participants from 21
countries. The invited keynote speakers are from the Nara Institute of
Science and Technology (Japan), St. Petersburg University (Russia),
Northern (Artic) Federal University (Russia), Northern State Medical
University (Russia), Technical Research Centre of Finland, University of
Eastern (Finland), University of Oulu (Finland) and University of
Lapland (Finland).
The summer school “Multidisciplinary Dialogue – Wellbeing, Technology
and the Environment” is held at the University of Lapland on August
27–31. It is a new joint activity of the Finnish-Russian Cross Border
University networks BCBU and CBU and the Barents Cross Border University
Development project BCBU+, funded by the Kolartic ENPI CBC. The summer
school is also financed by the Aleksanteri Institute (Universities
network of the Russian and East European Master’s School).
