Café Lingua meetings begin again

14.1.2013

The programme includes six languages.

The Language Centre, in collaboration with the International Relations, organizes informal Café Lingua meetings for those interested in different languages and cultures. The idea is to bring together native speakers and people who study foreign languages or are otherwise interested in them.

Café Lingua offers an opportunity to chit chat in German, Italian, Russian, Spanish, Scandinavian languages, or even Chinese while enjoying a nice cup of coffee. You can develop your language and communication skills while having an informal, relaxed conversation.

Café Lingua meetings in the spring will be organized as follows:

• Scandinavian languages every other Tuesday at 16–17: January 15, January 29, February 12, February 26, March 12, March 26, April 9, April 23

• German every other Tuesday at 17–18: January 15, January 29, February 12, February 26, March 12, March 26, April 9, April 23

• Chinese every other Tuesday at 17–18: January 22, February 5, February 19, March 19, April 2, April 16, April 30

• Spanish every other Wednesday at 16–17: January 16, January 30, February 13, February 27

• Italian every other Wednesday at 16–17: January 16, January 30, February 13, February 27, March 13, March 27, April 10

• Russian every other Thursday at 16–17: January 17, January 31, February 14, February 28, March 14, March 28, April 11, April 25

All Café Lingua meetings take place in Café Linna (address: Lordi Square, Koskikatu 14–16, Rovaniemi).

All interested in languages and cultures – such as Finnish and international students, locals, tourists and tourism operators – are warmly welcome to join. There is only one rule in Café Lingua: please speak only in the language of that particular gathering you are attending. This way, all attendees have an equal opportunity to develop their language skills and learn.
