A new Nordic project on gender equality among caregivers started at the Unit of Gender Studies

Nordic Gender Equality Fund (NIKK)-Nordic Funding Scheme has awarded DKK 342 950 (45 941€) for network development and small studies to the Unit of Gender Studies of the Faculty of Education, University of Lapland for a two year project from September 2019 to September 2021.
The project entitled “Understanding gender inequality among care givers in aging sector in Nordic countries,” led by Dr. Shahnaj Begum. Professor Päivi Naskali is the project supervisor and other involved researchers from the University of Lapland (Faculty of Social Science) are Associate Professor Minna Zechner and researcher Marjo Outila. The project is composed of five partner institutions including the University of Lapland (Finland), University of Umeå (Sweden), University of Gothenburg, the UiT Arctic University of Norway (Norway) and University of Akureyri (Iceland).
The project is aimed at promoting new knowledge that contribute to the enhancement of gender equality in this specific sector. The purpose of this project is also to develop a broader network and to conduct a small study and strengthened cooperation between scholars and policy makers/stakeholders with a view to promoting research project on the theme.
