Ainu-Sámi Seminar 17th October 2014 in Rovaniemi

The third Ainu-Sámi Seminar will be held on 17 October 2014 in Rovaniemi, Finland. Themes of the seminar are related to gender aspects in Ainu cultures, self-identification and Sami rights and perspectives related to mining activities.

Researchers with multidisciplinary backgrounds will get together in order to share their views and expertise on different aspects of Ainu and Sámi decolonization. The seminar is open for all interested and it will be held in Borealis Meeting Room in Arktikum building, Pohjoisranta 4. No registration needed.

The seminar is organized by Northern Institute for Environmental and Minority Law at the Arctic Centre, the University of Lapland. The third Ainu-Sámi Seminar is the result of the close co-operation between the Arctic Centre at the University of Lapland and the Muroran Institute of Technology at Hokkaido, Japan.
