China Law Week 2020 online 20–23 October

The China Law Week 2020 will offer analysis of the key features of the legal frameworks, challenges, and reforms that arise today in relation to Chinese law, and the unique characteristics of Chinese legal culture. The speakers comprise of leading academics from top universities in Europe, China and Australia.

The main topics of the event are Chinese law and legal culture – a diversity of approaches, Chinese labour law in international and comparative perspectives, new challenges for China's belt and road initiative and reform, and emerging issues in Chinese private law and the court system.

The China Law Week 2020 is free of charge and open to the public. However, registration is required by 18 October 2020, to the registration form. Further information and Zoom links to the sessions will be sent to registered participants one week before the event.

Programme and speakers

The China Law Week is organized by the Finnish China Law Center, in collaboration with the Faculty of Law and Confucius Institute at the University of Helsinki. The Finnish China Law Center was established in November 2012. Its member institutions including eight Finnish universities (University of Helsinki, Aalto University, University of Turku, University of Eastern Finland, University of Lapland, Tampere University, Hanken School of Economics, and LUT University) and the Institute of Criminology and Legal Policy at the University of Helsinki. The Center promotes the understanding of Chinese law and legal culture and supports the development of China law research in Finland.
