Researcher of legal linguistics Dr. Emilia Lindroos has received the Sprache und Recht award presented by the working group on Language and Law (Arbeitskreis Sprache und Recht) of the University of Regensburg in Germany. The award was handed out during the Dies academicus ceremony on Thursday 26 November 2015 at the University of Regensburg.
Dr. Emilia Lindroos has been honoured with the Förderpreis Sprache und
Recht award by the working group Language and Law (Arbeitskreis Sprache
und Recht) of the University of Regensburg.
The working group
comprising members from the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Languages,
Literature and Cultural Studies aims at promoting interdisciplinary
research on the interdependence of language and law. The working group
regularly organizes seminars and lectures and, since 2008, has given the
annual Sprache und Recht award to an outstanding dissertation that
makes a significant contribution to the field.
This year, the
award was given to LLD, MA Emilia Lindroos for her legal linguistic
doctoral thesis on German and Finnish courtroom discourse entitled Im
Namen des Gesetzes. Eine vergleichende rechtslinguistische Untersuchung
zur Formelhaftigkeit in deutschen und finnischen Strafurteilen (2015).
