Estonian Minister of Education and Research Jaak Aaviksoo lecturing at the university

Estonia’s Minister of Education and Research Jaak Aaviksoo will be lecturing at the University of Lapland on Wednesday 24 October from 11.00 to 12.00 in lecture room 6. Aaviksoo’s lecture focuses on the status of small countries in a globalizing world.
Jaak Aaviksoo is a professor of optics and spectroscopy at the University of Tartu. He has also worked as the vice rector and rector of the University of Tartu. Due to his scientific merit he has become a member of the Estonian Academy of Sciences and Academia Europaea. An honorary doctorate of the Faculty of Education was conferred on Jaak Aaviksoo on 1 June 2012 in the fourth promotion of the University of Lapland.
Aaviksoo has also made a significant career in politics. He has functioned as Estonia’s Minister of Education and Research and Minister of Defence.
