International Summer School in Social Work gathers 90 participants in Rovaniemi

The summer school is organized by the unit of Social Work at the University of Lapland in collaboration with FHV Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences (Austria) and the University of Vermont (US). About 90 students, teachers, and researchers from 12 different countries will gather in Rovaniemi to discuss social work and social services from a global perspective.

The summer school is organized by the unit of Social Work at the University of Lapland in collaboration with FHV Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences (Austria) and the University of Vermont (US). About 90 students, teachers, and researchers from 12 different countries will gather in Rovaniemi to discuss social work and social services from a global perspective.

The summer school is organized 24th time. Lectures and panels will focus on social work and social services across countries, and issues such as social justice; aging; and children and families as clients in services. The lecture week will be held between 22 and 26 May at the University of Lapland.

The Summer School program also includes visits to Arktikum, Korundi and Pilke, and an International Evening where participants have an opportunity to tell about their own culture to other participants.

After the week of lectures, the summer school will take a field trip to Utsjoki and Helsinki. In Utsjoki, participants will learn about Northern culture and lifestyle as well as social services in the North. In Helsinki, the participants will visit social services organizations.
