Mauri Ylä-Kotola applies to continue as Rector

The five-year position of the Rector of the University of Lapland, starting from January 1st, 2015, has been open for applications. Three applications were received by the application deadline on June 6th 2014.

The three applicants are the University's current rector, Professor of Media Science Mauri Ylä-Kotola; Doctor of Science (Agriculture and Forestry), Senior Researcher Kari Kangas; and Doctor of Social Sciences, Professor of Sociology Vesa Puuronen. Senior Researcher Kangas works at the European Forest Institute and Professor Puuronen at the University of Oulu.

A qualified applicant for the position of University Rector is required to have a doctoral degree, the ability and skills to carry out the tasks of a rector and proven leadership skills.

The board of the University of Lapland will discuss the selection of the Rector at its next meeting in June.
