The Nature Photograph of the Year is a unique and perfectly captured photo of a flock of ruffs. Last year's most amazing nature photos are on display at Arktikum Science Centre until the end of May.

The Winner of the competition was “Ruuhka” by Timo Mylläri. The judges were impressed by the breathtaking speed that was perfectly captured at the right moment.

– Unique shot of a flying flock of ruffs. The entire image is full of the intensity of spring. The photo captives the viewer immediately. This perfectly at the right moment captured photo shows also the communication between the ruffs. Every bird in the photo follows the other bird and reacts to its movements, the jury characterizes.

The goal of the competition is to highlight the beaty and diversity of Finnish nature. This was the 44th time the competition was held. This year it collected a total of 12 116 photos from 774 different photographers.
