In our new YouTube videos, our doctoral graduates share their doctoral stories and tell about the significance of doctoral education to their careers.
The University of Lapland produces about 30 doctoral graduates annually. Doctoral education is available in the form of discipline-specific doctoral programmes offered by the Faculties of Education; Law; Art and Design; and Social Sciences, as well as the multidisciplinary thematic doctoral programme The Arctic in a Changing World. The doctoral programmes lead to the degrees of Doctor of Arts, Doctor of Administrative Sciences, Doctor of Social Sciences, Doctor of Laws, Doctor of Philosophy (Education), and Doctor of Philosophy.
Doctoral graduates are employed in teaching and research positions, high-level design and development positions, leadership and managerial positions, and other expert positions. The wide range of high-level expert positions outside research institutions in companies and the public sector employ doctoral graduates while some doctoral graduates also work as self-employed entrepreneurs.
There are two application periods for our doctoral programmes every year, one in the spring and one in the autumn. The next application period is from 8 February to 1 March 2022.
