Nordic events at the University

Nordic Week 2015 will be held in Rovaniemi on 2–6 November. Some of the events of the week will take place at the University and they are open for everybody interested.

The purpose of the week is to highlight the role of the Nordic countries as a part of the Arctic region, as well as to promote relationships between the Nordic countries. The week is organised by the Honorary Consuls of the Nordic Countries in Rovaniemi, Rovalan Setlementti, Arctic Centre, Pohjola-Norden, Lapland Chamber of Commerce, and Rovaniemi Tourism and Marketing Ltd.


Panel Discussion: Northern Countries as a part of the Arctic
Friday 6 November, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am
Venue: lecture hall 2, Yliopistonkatu 8, Rovaniemi

Ambassadors of the Nordic countries to Finland discuss the role of the Nordic countries as a part of the Arctic region. Participants of the panel discussion are Ambassador Anders Lidén (Sweden), Ambassador Jette Nordam (Denmark), Ambassador Åge B. Grutle (Norway) and Ambassador Kristín A. Árnadóttir (Iceland). The discussion is conducted by Professor Raimo Väyrynen, Chair of the Board of the University of Lapland.
