Dr. Baozhi Cheng will highlight in his lecture Chinese policy towards the Arctic, in particular concerning the governance of the Arctic. According to Dr. Cheng, some of the recent shifts of Chinese government, especially from interest-concern to contribution-orientation, and also on concrete project cooperation with Russia and Nordic Countries do offer incentives relevant for governing the Arctic, which he will address in more details in his lecture.

Dr. Cheng is Senior Research Fellow on the interaction between Global Governance and International Law with Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS), one of the leading think-tanks in China. His major study fields cover the Global governance, international law, WTO law and European Union law. At present, he is the co-chair on Arctic studies in SIIS sponsored by China’s Arctic & Antarctic Administration and the Polar Research Institute of China.

The lecture will be in April 14th 2016 at 10–12 AM in Thule meeting room in Arktikum building, Pohjoisranta 4 Rovaniemi. The lecture is open for everyone.
